Explore this need in the finder →The NL-GAC18 is a large direct-heating rice cooker with Umami, Jasmine, GABA Brown, Steam and Slow Cook. It makes sense for a household preparing at least two supplied cups of ordinary rice at a time and wanting a genuine supplied steaming basket. Choose it for those recurring quantities rather than as a larger version that will automatically improve small meals.
Large rice batches, different breakfast limits
White, Umami, Quick, Jasmine and Quick Jasmine accept2–10 supplied cups of uncooked rice. The approximately 180 mL supplied measure is the basis of these figures. Brown and GABA Brown accept2–8, while mixed and sweet rice accept2–6. The ten-cup headline consequently does not apply to a large seasoned mixed-rice recipe with other ingredients.
The two-cup ordinary white-rice minimum is particularly worth checking. Some other ten-cup Zojirushi models permit one supplied cup of white rice, but this exact manual specifies two for the GAC18. If one cup is a normal weekday load, compare a different size or series. Do not transfer the minimum from a machine that merely has the same headline capacity.
Porridge and congee have lower ingredient ranges:0.5–2.5 cups for short or medium grain white-rice porridge, and0.5–1.5 for Jasmine congee. Those are different water-rich dishes. Their ability to use half a cup of rice does not establish permission to cook half a cup on the ordinary White program.
The Umami routine needs time
Umami extends soaking and steaming as part of the cooking process. It is useful to have that alternative when rice is a central part of the meal and you can plan ahead. Quick white and Quick Jasmine offer different menu choices when time is tighter. Select them for the corresponding grain and follow the manual, rather than expect a quick menu to support every recipe.
The same planning principle applies to GABA Brown, which has an additional preparation stage. It uses the same two-to-eight-cup range as ordinary Brown. The GAC18 uses direct heating with microcomputer control; someone specifically seeking induction or pressure should compare a different series rather than assume Umami describes either heating mechanism.
Two extra ways to use the appliance
The steaming basket, rice cup, spatula and holder are supplied. Use the Steam function with the prescribed loading and water instructions. A basket accessory does not establish a full-capacity combined rice-and-vegetable recipe. If cooking two foods together is the reason for purchasing, check the exact approved method before relying on that workflow.
Slow Cook is another supported menu for suitable soups and other specified dishes. That is helpful when a large rice cooker would otherwise stand unused on a soup evening. It is still one vessel: if you want soup and rice served together, consider which dish needs separate equipment. Use the slow-cook instructions for ingredient preparation and load limits instead of assuming that all slow-cooker recipes transfer unchanged.
Serving a group and cleaning afterward
Automatic and extended Keep Warm, reheating and timer controls help manage suitable plain rice when portions are served at different times. Observe the restrictions for individual grains and mixed foods. A shared kitchen may also appreciate the selectable melody, beep or silent completion signal.
The nonstick inner pan has a listed 1.5 mm thickness, the inner lid detaches, and the power cord is removable. Plan to clean the pan, basket and steam-contact parts regularly. The larger capacity also means a larger vessel to carry to the sink and dry. Convenient controls do not remove that daily handling requirement.
Measure the working position
The body is approximately 11 inches wide,16 deep and10 high. Open-lid height is about 19.125 inches. A shelf that clears the closed machine may prevent easy filling or pan removal, so measure the actual operating space and allow a clear steam route.
Choose the GAC18 when two-cup-and-up rice loads, a named Jasmine routine and the supplied basket are useful together. The GAC10 is better aligned with one-cup rice dinners. The QAC18 adds induction and dedicated quinoa or oatmeal programs; the NWC18 adds pressure. These are distinct meal and maintenance choices, rather than a single ladder of increasingly capable rice pots.
