Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I require the manufacturer’s PFAS/BPA food-contact declaration, a basket and one cup of brown rice?
Yes. The TPC10 carries that exact declaration, includes a basket and supports 1–4 supplied cups of Brown.
Explore this need in the finder →Will half a supplied cup of ordinary white rice fit?
No. Its White minimum is one supplied cup.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the declared-material configuration include a named quinoa program?
No. Quinoa is not on the TPC10’s listed menu.
Explore this need in the finder →The NS-TPC10 is a direct-heating rice cooker with a supplied steaming basket and a specific manufacturer declaration about its food-contact surfaces: they are free of PFAS, including PTFE and PFOA, and BPA. That makes it a distinct configuration to assess rather than treating it as another finish of the similarly named TSC models. Its grain programs are otherwise fairly traditional.
Understand the material statement precisely
Zojirushi describes a PFAS-free nonstick cooking pan and extends its PFAS/BPA statement to areas contacting food or beverages. The stated scope is food and beverage contact. The pan remains coated, so use suitable utensils and gentle cleaning rather than treating it like a bare stainless steel vessel.
The practical purchasing benefit is being able to choose an exact model with that published material statement. Avoid transferring it to a TSC, GAC or other model because the bodies look similar. Protect the TPC pan with appropriate utensils and cleaning methods. A particular coating declaration does not remove the ordinary need to maintain a coated vessel.
One-cup-and-up rice meals
The White, Sushi and Quick ranges are1–5.5 supplied cups of uncooked short or medium grain white rice. Brown, Mixed and Sweet accept1–4, while porridge accepts 0.5–1.5. The supplied rice measure is approximately 180 mL. These are raw ingredient amounts rather than US measuring cups or finished bowls.
A household cooking one cup of brown rice or three cups of plain white rice fits those documented loads. A half-cup white-rice meal does not. It is easy to overlook that limit when comparing this cooker with a five-and-a-half-cup induction model that starts at half a cup. The similar headline maximum does not imply a shared minimum.
The menu makes the scope clear
White/Sushi, Quick, Mixed, Porridge, Sweet, Brown, Cake and Steam are the listed functions. There is no named Jasmine, GABA Brown, quinoa or steel cut oatmeal program in that menu. If one of those named programs is essential, choose a model that explicitly provides it instead of assuming the PFAS-free pan comes with a wider menu.
Cake provides another prescribed use for the appliance, with its own ingredient instructions. Follow the specified batter and loading method; the pan's rice maximum does not describe a cake recipe. The TPC10 is most coherent as a rice cooker that can also handle its prescribed steaming and cake routines, rather than replacing all the other appliances used to prepare a meal.
A real basket with its own limits
The steaming basket is supplied. The English manual lists a steamed-food height limit of approximately 1.5 inches, so food shape matters as well as the presence of an accessory. Follow the prescribed water quantity, food arrangement and Steam timer settings. Do not assume a full white-rice load can be combined with a full basket merely because both features are advertised.
The same separation applies to cooking rice with other ingredients. Mixed has a smaller rice maximum than White because the whole dish must fit the approved recipe. Measure the rice first, use the appropriate water scale and follow the ingredient-loading instructions. A basket and a mixed-rice menu answer different meal-preparation needs.
Daily serving, storage and care
Automatic and extended Keep Warm, reheating and two timer settings support a suitable rice-serving routine. The manual distinguishes which menus should be held warm; automatic activation is not permission to leave every cooked dish in the pot. Follow those menu-specific restrictions, particularly for porridge and seasoned foods.
The built-in retractable cord is useful when storing the cooker. Closed dimensions are approximately 10.125 inches wide,14 deep and8.625 high; open-lid height is about 16.25 inches. Check both storage and operating space, including the steam route and room to remove the pan. Wash the food-contact components as instructed and keep the lid and steam parts clear.
Our fit assessment
Choose the TPC10 when its exact PFAS/BPA food-contact declaration, supplied basket and one-to-four-cup brown-rice range fit your priorities. The TPC18 raises capacity but starts ordinary white and brown rice at two cups. The EAC10 instead offers named quinoa and oatmeal programs, while the QAC10 adds induction. Those alternatives should be compared by their actual material statements and menu ranges individually.
