Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can six supplied cups of brown rice use the documented GABA method with completion timing?
Yes. Brown GABA permits2–6 supplied dry cups; allow at least four and a half hours of lead for the finish timer. This is a preparation method, not a medical promise.
Explore this need in the finder →Can half a supplied cup use ordinary white-rice cooking?
No. Plain and the other ordinary white-rice methods start at one supplied cup; the separate half-cup porridge allowance does not lower that minimum.
Explore this need in the finder →Can1.5supplied cups make soft brown porridge with completion timing?
Yes. The soft Brown Porridge scale allows0.5–1.5 supplied cups and supports finish timing with at least105minutes of lead.
Explore this need in the finder →The Tiger JPW-H18U is useful when the household really cooks larger loads: up to ten supplied cups of white rice, six of brown, or seven on Mixed. The larger pot also raises ordinary brown rice to a two-cup minimum. Choose it around those actual batches, with enough counter height to open its lid.
Large capacity has several different meanings
The H18U is the US 120-volt, ten-cup JPW-H induction model in mauve black. Tiger lists a thick far-infrared-coated inner pot. Its manual requires care appropriate to a fluorocarbon resin coating; that is a coated food-contact surface rather than an uncoated clay pot.
White-rice Plain, Premium, Eco and Quick each allow one to ten supplied dry cups. Dedicated Long-grain uses that same one-to-ten range. Multigrain allows one to eight, Mixed one to seven, and Sweet two to five. These are separate recipes with their own water lines and ingredient instructions, so the ten-cup headline is not a maximum for every meal the cooker can make.
Brown and Brown GABA accept two to six supplied cups. Adding ingredients to Brown reduces its maximum to four. That distinction matters when planning a larger rice-and-vegetable recipe rather than an unseasoned brown side dish. Add water before ingredients and respect the manual's ingredient limits; do not fill by eye up to whichever line is highest.
It can make smaller porridge, but not smaller plain brown rice
For both white-rice Porridge and Brown Porridge, firm consistency accepts half to two dry cups. Soft consistency accepts half to one and a half, as does firm porridge with ingredients. A half-cup porridge breakfast is therefore possible in a cooker whose ordinary white-rice minimum is one cup and brown minimum is two.
That flexibility should not be transferred between menus. Select Brown Porridge and its scale for a wetter brown-rice preparation; do not treat the half-cup allowance as an ordinary Brown setting. Likewise, the Multigrain menu is white rice with a limited proportion of added grains, rather than a dedicated program for pure quinoa or steel-cut oats.
If white and brown rice are combined, the manual changes the routing according to their proportions. A brown-majority mixture goes through Brown; a mixture with at least as much white rice goes through Plain after the prescribed brown-rice soaking. The combined maximum is six supplied cups, even when Plain alone accepts ten. Follow that exact mixture guidance rather than taking the plain-white maximum as permission for every blend.
The small express batch stops at three cups
Exp. Limited Cups accepts one to three supplied cups. Quick is a different program and extends to ten. If four cups need cooking now, Quick may be the documented fast route, while the smaller express option is out of range. Neither supports the completion timer.
Tiger's reference cycle ranges are approximately eighteen to twenty-eight minutes for express, twenty-two to forty-eight for Quick and forty-five to sixty-one for Plain. They assume 120 volts and room and water at 73.4°F, with the normal water level. Your ingredient quantity and conditions can change the wait. Preparing the largest load is a different use from the one-cup scenario behind the shortest express claim.
Clock finish times suit planned family meals
The two saved finish-time settings can be convenient when meal times repeat. Menu-specific lead times still apply: Long-grain needs at least fifty minutes, Plain sixty-five, Brown eighty-five and Brown GABA four and a half hours. Quick, express, Mixed, Sweet and Cook·Soup are excluded. A timed dinner must use an eligible menu and a quantity allowed on that same menu.
Soak Timer is another choice, waiting ten to sixty minutes before cooking starts. It is not a second name for “ready at dinner.” The manual limits finish-timer scheduling to twelve hours and requires suitable ingredients; avoid turning an overnight waiting period into a general rule for every recipe.
Plan holding and cleaning alongside batch size
Keep Warm is most appropriate for white or rinse-free rice, while other grains and porridge are best served promptly. The manual warns against holding a very small remaining amount, defined here as two supplied cups or less, because quality can deteriorate. Buying the larger cooker for occasional gatherings can therefore involve a tradeoff during ordinary small meals.
Reheat applies to rice already kept warm and cannot operate below about 131°F; it is not a cold-rice recovery program. Cook·Soup supplies a separate five-to-180-minute simmering method. It uses the pot in sequence with rice cooking, with no supplied tacook plate or documented parallel rice-and-steam arrangement.
The body is approximately 11.3 inches wide, 15.2 inches deep and 9.4 inches high. Tiger specifies about 18.3 inches of height with the lid open. Hand-wash the pot, inner lid and utensils; wipe the casing, sensors and ventilation openings. The heated-water Clean procedure helps with odors after other foods, alongside that physical washing.
Choose the H18U for large white-rice dinners, two-to-six-cup brown batches and flexible porridge quantities. Choose the H10U when half-cup ordinary white rice or one-cup brown meals are more frequent. Compare the JPW-G18U when named Sushi or Cake settings are part of the plan; the H18U's fourteen-menu list does not include them.
