A useful fit for

Households regularly starting at two ordinary rice cups and wanting larger plate dinners or the expanded porridge ranges.

The main tradeoff

Ten cups applies to white rice alone; long-grain Quick and concurrent plate cooking cannot use the timer.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can I finish a two-cup Plain white-rice batch at a stored completion time?

Yes, without the cooking plate and within the Plain timer instructions. Set the present clock and allow at least 70 minutes lead time.

Can four supplied dry cups cook below a prescribed side dish?

Yes. The exact large combined range is two to four cups; the timer is not allowed in that configuration.

Does this large model document a one-cup ordinary brown-rice batch?

No. Its ordinary brown-rice range begins at two supplied cups.

The Tiger JAX-T18U is the larger JAX configuration for households cooking at least two supplied cups of ordinary rice, or two to four cups underneath a prescribed tacook side dish. It adds useful access for inner-lid cleaning and two saved finish times on eligible rice programs. Choose it for those particular tasks, keeping its brown-rice, porridge and plate limits separate from the ten-cup white-rice maximum.

Large white-rice capacity does not apply to every grain

Ordinary white rice has a two-to-ten-cup range. Brown rice is two to six, mixed rice two to six and sweet rice two to five. These are uncooked quantities measured with Tiger's supplied cup, approximately 180mL. They are not cooked serving counts or US measuring-cup quantities.

Brown rice with extra ingredients has a lower five-cup maximum under the manual's recipe guidance. If that seasoned brown-rice dish is the regular meal, use five as the relevant ceiling instead of the ordinary six. Similarly, the ten-cup Multigrain figure refers to the prescribed white-rice-and-grains preparation, with added grains below the specified proportion. It is not an unrestricted pure-grain capacity.

The two-cup minimum also matters. A household usually making one cup of white or brown rice should compare the JAX-T10U. Its smaller maximum is accompanied by a genuine one-cup minimum, rather than merely a smaller cabinet.

A four-cup plate dinner is within the documented method

The supplied tacook plate can be used above two to four cups of rice. That makes JAX-T18U relevant for a larger dinner than the small JAX's one-to-two-cup plate method. Six cups of white rice, however, is a rice-only request on this model; the ordinary ten-cup maximum does not authorize it beneath the plate.

Use the cookbook's food quantities and loading pattern. The manual warns against substituting other dishes or exceeding their amounts. Keep the plate level, avoid mounding ingredients and follow the instructions for foods that expand or release liquid. More room in the main pot does not turn the upper plate into an unlimited second cooker.

At completion, lift the hot plate out carefully and loosen the rice. Do not keep the side dish inside on Keep Warm or return the plate afterward. If dinner needs to wait, plan the components' serving and storage separately rather than leave the full arrangement inside.

The timer follows the program and the plate

The two saved timers specify completion times. Plain without the plate supports this function, with at least one hour and ten minutes of lead. Brown requires at least one hour and thirty minutes, Multigrain one hour and ten, and Porridge its selected cooking time plus two minutes. The manual also limits how far ahead timing should be set.

Quick, Mixed•Sweet, Slow Cook and Steam do not support the timer. The manual specifically directs long-grain white rice to Quick, so it cannot borrow Plain's timing capability. Concurrent plate cooking is also expressly excluded even though its selected program is Plain/Synchro-Cooking.

This differs from the JBV-S18U, whose Quick and Plain timer availability are different. Choose by the actual rice and method. If the task is immediate two-to-four-cup plate dinners without any finish timer, the simpler JBV-A18U is another useful comparison.

Porridge can start below the ordinary rice minimum

Hard porridge supports 0.5–2 cups, and soft porridge 0.5–1.5. A half-cup porridge preparation is therefore documented even though a half-cup ordinary white-rice batch is not. Two cups fits the hard method but exceeds the soft method. Match the dry quantity to the correct water scale.

Porridge cooking time can be set in five-minute increments from 40 to 90 minutes. The separate Steam program has a five-to-60-minute setting. Each needs its own preparation and water amount, rather than a setting borrowed from the larger rice capacity.

Cleaning and the holding routine

The inner lid removes, and the manual shows how to refit its gasket and disassemble the steam cap. Wash the parts by hand on the day of use, rinse and dry thoroughly, and use a soft sponge on the coated pot. Removability improves access; it does not create dishwasher permission.

Keep Warm is for suitable plain white rice within the stated limits. The elapsed display can show up to 24 hours, but the instructions caution against holding beyond 12. Reheat is a separate procedure for rice already being kept warm, with its own temperature and amount limits.

The closed body is approximately 11.1 inches wide, 14.6 deep and 9.6 high. Add space to open it, release steam and lift the loaded plate. Choose JAX-T18U for its larger ordinary and plate meals, explicit porridge ranges and accessible lid care; choose the small JAX for one-cup rice or the appropriate JBV configuration when its simpler controls or different timer program better match the meal.
