A useful fit for

Larger regular rice meals where two-cup ordinary-rice minimums and reduced grain-specific capacities fit.

The main tradeoff

One-cup white or express cooking is unsupported; half-cup porridge is a separate method, and no steaming tray is supplied.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can half a supplied cup make firm porridge in this large cooker?

Yes. Firm porridge supports 0.5–2 supplied dry cups. This does not reduce the two-cup ordinary-white-rice minimum.

Can one supplied cup use Express-Limited Cups?

No. The exact large-model Express range is two to three supplied dry cups; small-model limits cannot be borrowed.

Can six supplied cups of brown rice use GABA Brown and clock finish timing together?

Yes. GABA Brown supports two to six supplied dry cups and permits clock finish timing with at least four hours forty-five minutes of lead.

The Tiger JKT-D18U is the larger cooker in this induction-heated family, with a ten-cup dry-white-rice maximum. It is useful for households making substantial batches, but its two-cup minimum for ordinary white rice is equally important. Porridge, brown rice and express cooking each have different supported quantities.

A large pot is not a universal ten-cup recipe

Tiger measures rice with the supplied 180 ml dry-rice cup, approximately150g for a level cup of white rice. The ten-cup rating uses that measure. Cooked volume changes with the grain and recipe, so do not assume a fixed twenty-cup cooked yield or substitute a standard US cup when measuring against the pot's water lines.

Plain/White, Premium, Quick and Long-grain support two to ten supplied dry cups. Brown and GABA Brown support two to six. Multigrain, meaning white rice with the instructed other grains, supports two to eight. Seasoned mixed rice stops at six, and sweet rice at five. These reduced limits matter when planning a batch for guests.

If you want one cup of ordinary white rice, this model is outside the documented range. The JKT-D10U starts at one; the JPW-H18U also has a lower ordinary-white-rice minimum despite its larger nominal capacity. Compare your smallest frequent batch as carefully as your occasional largest one.

Express handles only a small part of the full capacity

Express-Limited Cups supports two to three supplied cups, with a reference range of approximately twenty to twenty-six minutes. It is a particular smaller-batch method, rather than a way to cook ten cups in twenty minutes. Quick covers the full two-to-ten-cup white-rice range, with a separate reference of approximately twenty-three to forty-seven minutes.

Those references use 120 V, room and water at 23°C, the normal water level and rice not soaked in advance. Quantity, rice type, water conditions and the use of finish timing can change the result. For a time-sensitive gathering, allow margin rather than making the shortest published figure the serving deadline.

The manual describes Express as somewhat firmer than Plain/White because its soaking process is omitted. A small adjustment to final steaming time is available, but it does not change the supported batch range. Plain/White's reference is approximately forty-two to fifty-six minutes; Premium is longer at roughly sixty-three to seventy-six minutes.

Use brown and mixed-rice limits for the actual meal

Brown rice is limited to six supplied cups without added ingredients. When cooking it with other ingredients, the manual reduces that maximum to five. Adding vegetables or seasoning does not leave the full plain-rice capacity available. The same distinction applies to other recipes with their own fill and ingredient restrictions.

The Multigrain instructions call for other grains at less than twenty percent of the white-rice volume, placed on top rather than stirred throughout the pot. This does not establish an unrestricted pure-quinoa or pure-oat program. For long-grain rice with seasoning and additional ingredients, the manual directs you to Mixed/Sweet rather than the ordinary Long-grain method.

GABA Brown adds a much longer preparation, approximately four hours twenty-six to four hours forty minutes under the reference conditions. Choose it when that schedule and its particular brown-rice preparation suit the meal, rather than expecting a variation on Quick. Allow for that extra preparation when planning dinner.

Half-cup porridge remains a separate supported job

Firm porridge supports half to two supplied cups of dry rice, while soft porridge supports half to 1.5 cups. Firm porridge with ingredients has a reduced 1.5-cup maximum. That makes the large cooker usable for a small porridge preparation even though its ordinary white-rice minimum is two cups.

The porridge time setting spans forty to ninety minutes. Its water scales and limits are specific to that recipe. Do not transfer the half-cup porridge permission to plain rice or use the ten-cup white-rice maximum for porridge. Serve porridge promptly; a keep-warm indicator does not mean prolonged holding suits every food.

Completion timing has exclusions

The two saved clock timers let you set when supported rice cooking should finish. The manual requires at least one hour for Plain/White, eighty minutes for Premium, seventy for Multigrain, ninety for Brown, four hours forty-five minutes for GABA Brown and forty-five minutes for Long-grain. It does not permit setting more than twelve hours ahead.

Quick, Express-Limited Cups, Mixed/Sweet, Slow Cook and Cake cannot use the finish timer. If you want seasoned mixed rice ready automatically at a clock time, the timer feature cannot be borrowed from Plain/White to establish that workflow.

Extra programs still have their own limits

Slow Cook provides one-to180-minute settings with different increments across that span and model-specific minimum fills. Cake is a genuine named five-to-eighty-minute program, tied to the manual's recipes. Both occupy the inner pot, and neither can be arranged with the rice completion timer. No steaming tray is listed in the supplied accessories.

Automatic keep-warm is available, with the manual limiting ordinary white-rice holding to no more than twenty-four hours and advising prompt service for other preparations. Reheat is intended for already-warm rice, not a substitute method for reheating a cold stored meal.

Allow room and plan hand washing

The body measures approximately 11.3 inches wide, 15.2 inches deep and 9.8 inches high. Leave space to open the lid, handle a larger wet pot and release steam. The pot, inner lid and steam cap need cleaning after use; the manual prohibits dishwasher cleaning and cautions against pulling off the fixed inner-lid gasket.

Tiger's ceramic-coating description does not establish a PFAS-free pot. Its current US disclosure names JKT-D18U among models using PFAS for nonstick properties, and the manual discusses fluorocarbon-resin care. The disclosure does not establish BPA presence. Choose this model for supported larger batches and its actual extra programs; choose a smaller minimum or another material arrangement when those are essential to your routine.
