Rice cookers with a documented rice-porridge program

For a small batch with an explicit consistency choice, the Tiger JKT-D10U manual gives Firm Porridge from 0.5 to one supplied cup and Soft Porridge at 0.5 cup. For up to 1.5 cups, the Zojirushi NW-JEC10 documents a separate Porridge plan; Aroma's ARC-7604 manual gives a one-cup recipe and one-cup maximum. Match your recipe to that exact plan, since porridge labels and allowed amounts vary.

  • The cooker must document a rice-porridge program, not merely a generic multicooker or a Brown-rice porridge mode.
  • Use the porridge program's supplied dry-cup amount; ordinary White or Brown capacity does not establish porridge capacity.
  • Consistency names are model-specific. Select a separately named hard, soft, thick, or thin scale only when the exact manual establishes it.

Comparison updated 29 October 2026.

The three examples distinguish a maker-labeled consistency scale, a broader documented half-to-1.5-cup plan, and a one-cup recipe. The matching list keeps the other real porridge menus reachable; this is not a texture or quality ranking.

Why choose each option?

Tiger JKT-D10U

Choose it when: The JKT-D10U manual identifies separate Firm and Soft porridge methods, with different dry-cup limits; a half-cup soft batch and up-to-one-cup firm batch are explicitly supported.

The limit: The Soft plan is limited to half a supplied cup, while the Firm plan ends at one. Do not transfer the plain-rice range to porridge or assume another maker uses the same scale labels.

Zojirushi NW-JEC10

Zojirushi NW-JEC10

Choose it when: The NW-JEC10 manual records Porridge separately from its White and Brown plans and gives a half-to-one-and-a-half-cup porridge range.

The limit: The documented plan stops at 1.5 cups. Its portion table does not establish the same named Firm/Soft distinctions shown for the JKT-D10U, so do not assume scale equivalence.

Compare other models meeting these requirements

Choose the porridge plan, not a rice maximum

The JKT-D10U manual documents Firm Porridge from 0.5 to one supplied cup and Soft Porridge at 0.5 cup only. The NW-JEC10 documents Porridge at 0.5–1.5 cups, while the ARC-7604 lists a one-cup Porridge recipe and one-cup maximum. These ranges answer different batch needs; they are not interchangeable with ordinary White, Brown, Brown Porridge, or Jasmine Congee limits.

Treat consistency labels as exact-model instructions

The JKT-D10U calls its options Firm and Soft. Other manuals may name different scales or provide only a general porridge quantity. If you specifically need a hard, soft, thick, or thin setting, require that same setting in the exact-model manual rather than treating the words as universal texture promises.

Use separate answers for separate porridge jobs

Brown-rice porridge and named Jasmine congee are not the general Porridge plan. They use different grain and recipe directions, so choose the brown-porridge or congee answer if that is the meal you make. A multicooker label or a porridge program alone does not establish those separate recipes.

Questions that change the choice

Can I use the ordinary rice capacity for porridge?

No. Use the Porridge quantity in that model's own instructions. The NW-JEC10, for example, lists a separate 0.5–1.5-cup Porridge range; its White and Brown limits do not replace it.

Does a model that says Porridge guarantee both hard and soft options?

No. The JKT-D10U explicitly lists Firm and Soft plans. Other reviewed models may document a porridge amount without the same named scale; check the exact control and recipe table before choosing for texture.

Is this the same as Brown Porridge or Jasmine Congee?

No. Those are separate recipe needs with their own grain, program, and batch boundaries. Use the related Brown Porridge or Jasmine Congee answer instead of transferring this general Porridge range.
