Rice cookers with a dedicated brown-rice porridge plan

For dedicated Brown Porridge, the JPW-H10U covers 0.5–1 supplied dry cup on its firm scale and 0.5 cup on soft; the JPW-H18U extends those ranges to 0.5–2 firm and 0.5–1.5 soft. Choose by the porridge batch you make, because a regular Brown plan has a different limit.

  • The model must document a Brown Porridge operating plan, not merely ordinary Brown rice or general porridge.
  • Amounts are dry supplied-cup quantities attached to the selected Brown Porridge scale.
  • Added ingredients have a separate reduced maximum; follow that method's limit rather than the no-addition range.

Comparison updated 29 October 2026.

I feature one 10-size and one 18-size model to show the real Brown Porridge batch and footprint choice. The matching-model list also includes the JPW-G variants; this is not a cooking-quality ranking between Tiger series.

Why choose each option?

Tiger JPW-H10U

Tiger JPW-H10U

Choose it when: Its manual names Brown Porridge and documents a half-to-one-cup firm range, plus a half-cup soft setting; that suits a modest batch without using ordinary Brown capacity as a proxy.

The limit: The no-addition firm range stops at one supplied cup, and the ingredients method tops out at one-half cup. Choose the 18-size model if your porridge batch exceeds those method-specific limits.

Tiger JPW-H18U

Tiger JPW-H18U

Choose it when: The JPW-H18U keeps the same half-cup starting amount as the H10U but documents firm porridge up to two cups and soft porridge up to one and a half, the useful distinction for a larger batch.

The limit: Its body is wider, deeper, and taller than the H10U, so verify the closed space as well as your recipe quantity. For added ingredients, use the reduced one-and-a-half-cup cap rather than the two-cup no-addition maximum.

Compare other models meeting these requirements

Use the porridge plan, not the regular Brown maximum

The JPW-H10U manual lists Brown Porridge as a separate operating plan from ordinary Brown rice. Use the porridge plan's own supplied-dry-cup scale: a different rice mode's larger maximum does not change this recipe's allowed amount.

Choose the batch ceiling you actually need

Choose the JPW-H10U for a 0.5–1-cup firm or 0.5-cup soft Brown Porridge batch; choose the JPW-H18U if your firm batch may exceed one cup and stays within two, or your soft batch stays within 1.5. The H18U's larger range comes with a larger closed body: 11.3 × 15.2 × 9.4 inches versus the H10U's 10.3 × 14.1 × 7.9 inches. These are dry supplied-cup limits, not cooked yield.

Added ingredients lower the method limit

The Brown Porridge plan with ingredients is capped at one-half supplied cup on the H10U and one-and-a-half cups on the H18U. If your recipe includes ingredients, use that plan-specific cap instead of the no-addition firm or soft range.

The JPW-G variants add alternatives, not another porridge range

For Brown Porridge, the JPW-G10U and H10U each document firm 0.5–1 cup and soft 0.5 cup; the JPW-G18U and H18U each document firm 0.5–2 cups and soft 0.5–1.5 cups. The H examples make the size split easy to see, while the full matching list keeps the G models available for comparison of their other exact-model details.

Questions that change the choice

Can I use the ordinary Brown rice maximum for porridge?

No. The manual lists Brown Porridge separately from ordinary Brown rice, with its own smaller, scale-specific dry-cup ranges. Follow the Brown Porridge table for this recipe.

Which model is enough for a half-cup batch?

Both the H10U and H18U document a half-cup start for Brown Porridge. If half a cup is your only batch, the H10U's smaller body is sufficient by the documented range; choose the H18U only if you also need its larger firm or soft setting.

What if I add other ingredients?

Use the Brown Porridge-with-ingredients maximum: one-half cup on the H10U and one-and-a-half cups on the H18U. Do not carry over the two-cup H18U no-addition maximum.
