Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can I make the JNP-S JNP-S10U maximum white-rice batch?
Yes. The exact model's U.S. manual gives 1 to 5.5 level supplied cups for the single Plain method.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I schedule a delayed finish on the JNP-S JNP-S10U?
No delayed-finish timer is documented for this switch-start model; the automatic change to Keep Warm is not a schedule.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I cook six supplied cups of white rice?
No. The JNP-S10U manual maximum is 5.5 supplied cups; the next size family starts at a larger minimum.

The Tiger JNP-S10U is the 1-liter member of a four-capacity conventional cooker series. Tiger’s U.S. page lists the unit beside its three-, eight-, and ten-cup siblings, while the shared U.S. manual sets this model’s white-rice range at one to 5.5 level supplied cups. The Tiger cup is about 180 mL (5.29 ounces), and the manual says a level cup is about 150 g. This is dry rice measured with the supplied cup; the cooked amount depends on rice and water, so it should not be converted into an exact number of servings.
More headroom without adding a program library
The JNP-S10U keeps the family’s simple heating-plate and one-switch routine. Tiger documents one Plain Rice setting, a start lamp, a Keep Warm lamp, a removable inner lid, and an automatic warmer. There is no product-page or manual support for a delayed finish timer, a digital clock, or a set of specialty grain programs. If a timer is an essential answer, select a model that documents one; a basic cooker’s ability to stay plugged in is not scheduling.
After the switch releases, the manual describes a 15-to-20-minute steaming period with the lid closed before stirring the finished rice. Treat this as the manufacturer’s final rest step, not a full cycle-duration promise. Tiger’s product page calls white rice cooking “in no time,” but does not publish an exact time for this capacity, and we did not conduct a cooking test. The useful difference from the smaller JNP-S55U is the quantity range, not a claimed speed advantage.
When the 5.5-cup maximum is worth the larger body
The 1-cup minimum is as important as the 5.5-cup ceiling. It lets a cook make a small amount on weekdays and a larger batch on another night without changing the method. The listed exterior is about 10.7 inches wide, 9.8 inches deep, and 10.3 inches high. That is a noticeable step up from the S55U, but still smaller in cooking capacity than the S15U’s eight-cup and S18U’s ten-cup versions. The product page reports 505 watts and 6.8 pounds; the exact family manual groups JNP-S10U with the similarly sized JNP-1000 and lists 6.4 pounds. Because those manufacturer sources differ, treat weight as approximate and verify the model suffix and clearance before purchase.
The S10U is the practical middle choice when one or two cups are common but a five-cup dinner is plausible. It is not a fit if your routine is almost always eight or ten cups; S15U and S18U go larger but begin at three cups, which makes small batches a real tradeoff. The S55U is more compact but stops at three cups. A microcomputer cooker such as Tiger JBS-A55U adds menu choice and a delayed timer in a similar small-batch class, but has different controls and its own exact grain limits. Compare those facts rather than assuming “more features” automatically suits your routine.
Plain rice means plain rice here
The JNP-S10U does not document Brown, GABA, porridge, quinoa, sweet or seasoned mixed rice settings, nor a steaming basket. Its one Plain program cannot be promoted as a substitute for a model-specific brown or porridge method. If you only want white rice, the reduced choice set can be an advantage: measure the supplied cup, wash in a separate bowl, follow the water marks inside this model’s pot, and use the switch. If the finder asks for a named grain program, a timer, simultaneous steaming, or approved warm-holding of another recipe, the JNP-S10U should fall out of that shortlist.
What ownership asks of you
The warmer is advertised for up to 12 hours, but the manual says to keep only white rice warm, avoid holding it longer, and avoid keeping less than the cooker’s minimum amount. It also cautions against a cold addition or leaving a spatula in the rice. The inner pot is aluminum with a fluorocarbon lining; Tiger’s U.S. materials disclosure lists PFAS used for the nonstick surface in this family. That disclosure says nothing about health effects and is not a BPA statement. The manual says the coating may wear with extended use and recommends hand washing, a soft sponge, the supplied spatula, and washing rice in another bowl. The steam vent and dew collector detach for cleaning; grains on the heater plate should be removed. Maintain the manual’s 30-cm clearance from walls and furniture.
Who should buy this capacity?
Pick the JNP-S10U if one-to-five-and-a-half supplied cups of white rice covers your week and a plain physical switch is enough. It is the family’s widest useful span for cooks who alternate between small and medium batches. Skip it for timers, different grain methods, advanced recipe settings, or an everyday batch above 5.5 cups. Tiger’s shared JNP-S image is a series photograph, not a marked S10U-specific size view; confirm the suffix on the unit and use the listed dimensions to judge fit.
