Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the JAZ-A18U make its maximum documented white-rice batch?
Yes. Tiger's exact U.S. manual lists three to ten supplied cups for JAZ-A18U; ten is the top of that plan.
Explore this need in the finder →Can it cook two and a half supplied cups of white rice?
No. That is below the exact manual's three-cup JAZ-A18U minimum; the 10U sibling starts at one cup.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I require a finish timer on the JAZ-A18U?
No clock or delayed-finish control is documented. Automatic Keep Warm begins after the manual switch completes cooking.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the JAZ-A18U include a steaming basket?
Yes. Tiger lists a separate steamer basket among the included accessories; it is not documentation of a synchronized rice-under-steamer cycle.

Tiger JAZ-A18U review
The JAZ-A18U is the high-capacity JAZ-A configuration, but its three-cup minimum matters as much as its ten-cup maximum. It is a conventional 1.8-liter, heating-plate cooker for cooks who routinely make large batches of white rice and prefer a physical cook switch to a menu-driven appliance. If your household usually cooks one or two supplied cups, the smaller JAZ-A10U is the more sensible match even if the 18U looks like useful headroom.
Ten dry cups are useful only when you need them
The U.S. product page and linked manual identify the exact JAZ-A18U as a 1.8-liter/61-ounce configuration rated at 650 watts. Its manual range for ordinary rice is three to ten of Tiger’s supplied 180-milliliter measuring cups. These are uncooked input measures, not U.S. cups and not a guaranteed cooked yield. The manual says a cup of uncooked rice makes approximately three cooked cups, which is a rough serving aid rather than a promise that every rice type expands identically.
That range is a good fit when three cups is a normal starting batch and larger meals, meal prep or a larger table can use more. It is a poor fit for frequent small meals: the JAZ-A10U starts at one cup and still reaches 5.5, covering much of the overlap without asking you to cook the A18U’s minimum. Tiger’s listed dimensions for the 18U are about 11.2 inches wide, 10.7 deep and 12 high; at 6.8 pounds it is still portable, but the extra height can matter under low cabinets. These are manufacturer-listed measurements, not counter-clearance advice; leave room for the lid and steam.
A physical switch keeps the routine uncomplicated
There is no digital clock, recipe screen or cycle selection to learn. The manual shows a single cook switch with separate Rice Cooking and Keep Warm lamps. Rinse the rice in another bowl, transfer it to the pan, add water to the marked level for that amount, seat the pan properly on the heater plate, close the lid and press the switch. When cooking finishes, the switch pops up and the cooker changes automatically to Keep Warm. Tiger instructs users to leave the lid closed for around 15 minutes before opening and fluffing the rice.
This can work well if you are present to start a meal and appreciate a clear on/off action. It is not a substitute for a finish-time timer. No clock or delayed-start control is documented for this configuration, and post-cook warming cannot make rice ready at a chosen future hour. The manufacturer advertises up to 12 hours of Keep Warm, while the manual cautions that holding too long can dry or discolor rice and that an undersized quantity may warm poorly. A timed dinner routine or dependable small batch points elsewhere.
The included basket adds a separate steaming option
The JAZ-A18U package includes a measuring cup, rice scoop, scoop holder and steamer basket. The official page describes the basket as a way to cook vegetables, and the instructions show a distinct steaming method with water in the pan. That expands the cooker’s use beyond rice, but the instructions do not describe a synchronized “rice below, vegetables above” tacook-style cycle. Do not assume that an included accessory solves a need for two foods to finish together; the exact operating plan is different.
Maintenance is hands-on and the coating is a real tradeoff
The aluminum pot uses a fluorine/PTFE nonstick coating. Tiger’s U.S. regulatory disclosure specifically lists JAZ-A18U among models with PFAS intentionally added to provide nonstick properties. This is limited to what the manufacturer disclosed; it is not a health conclusion, nor does it establish the product’s BPA status. Anyone who requires a manufacturer-confirmed PFAS-free cooking surface should not interpret a generic coating description as satisfying that condition.
The pan, inner lid and steam components should be cleaned after unplugging and cooling, with water, mild detergent and a non-abrasive sponge. The body must not be submerged. The manual says to avoid metal utensils and abrasive cleaners that could damage the coating and to remove the dew collector for washing. Remember to wipe the pan dry underneath before returning it to the heating plate.
When to size down or switch styles
Choose the JAZ-A10U if your everyday batch is under three cups or rarely exceeds 5.5. The Tiger JNP-1800 is another conventional ten-cup option, with its own capacity range and simpler included accessories; compare its exact package rather than assuming that all single-switch cookers bundle a steamer. For brown rice menus, porridge, pressure cooking or clock-based timing, move to a documented programmable model instead of trying to make the JAZ-A18U’s plain method cover those needs.
Bottom line: the JAZ-A18U fits households that regularly cook three to ten supplied cups of white rice and can start the cycle manually. Its small-batch floor, no finish timer, separate steaming method and coated pot are meaningful boundaries, not minor omissions.
