A documented steam-tray food-height allowance of 2.75 inches
For an included steam basket and food up to 2.75 inches tall, the Zojirushi NW-QAC18 has a documented tray-height allowance. Treat that as an accessory-clearance fact only: it does not establish that rice cooks under the food in the same cycle.
- An included steam basket is required.
- The manufacturer must document a food-height allowance of at least 2.75 inches for that tray.
- Same-cycle rice cooking is not assumed from accessory clearance.

The documented allowance reaches 2.75 inches
The NW-QAC18 manual lists an included steam basket and a maximum food height of 2.75 inches for its tray. This is the direct fit example for the specified accessory and vertical clearance.
Tray clearance is not a paired rice recipe
The 2.75-inch figure does not say that rice can cook below the food during that cycle. If you require simultaneous rice and steaming, use an exact paired-method answer with its own grain and dry-cup amount; the one- and two-cup White examples document a 1.5-inch limit, not this taller clearance.
Do not round up beyond the manual
At a 3-inch height request, no reviewed basket record confirms that much clearance. Measure the food and follow the NW-QAC18 manual’s loading instructions; a tray’s physical space or a taller lid is not a substitute for its documented allowance.
Questions that change the choice
Does the NW-QAC18’s 2.75-inch allowance prove that rice cooks at the same time?
No. The tray-height field is not a paired rice recipe. Require an exact method that documents the selected rice amount and simultaneous steaming.
What if the food is 3 inches tall?
No reviewed included-basket match confirms a 3-inch allowance. Reduce the height to 2.75 inches or less only if it follows the exact manual, or find model-specific documentation for a taller load.
