Pressure, capacity and menus
Choosing a Cuckoo Twin Pressure size
“Twin Pressure” is a choice of cooking method
On the Cuckoo CRP-ST0609F and CRP-ST1009F, the lid handle selects either a high-pressure menu group or a non-pressure group. White, mixed and GABA rice sit on the high-pressure side; non-pressure white, veggie rice, frozen-stored rice and porridge use the other side. A separate Open Cooking step is available during a non-pressure process only. The menu choice has practical consequences for the batch and timer, so it is not enough to count the number of menu labels on the display.
Both models use a supplied Cuckoo rice cup. Treat the manual’s cup counts as dry uncooked portions measured with that cup, not as standard U.S. measuring cups or as a cooked-yield guarantee. The ordinary white-rice maximum increases from six to ten cups between the two models, while other program ceilings move by different amounts.
Choose six cups when the smaller ranges fit
The CRP-ST0609F’s official manual allows one to six cups for White Rice and High Heat White Rice. Super Turbo White Rice, Mixed Rice, GABA, Non-Pressure White Rice, Veggie Rice and Frozen Stored Rice each top out at four. It has no Thick/Thin Porridge menu. That makes the six-cup body a sensible fit when white rice is the main workload and smaller batches of the other listed programs are enough; it is not the right choice for a five-cup GABA or mixed batch.
The ten-cup CRP-ST1009F changes the porridge and grain envelope as well as the white maximum. It has one-to-ten-cup white settings, Mixed Rice to eight, GABA to six, Turbo White to four, and Non-Pressure White/Veggie/Frozen Stored Rice to six. It also documents thick porridge at one to two cups and thin porridge at one-half to one cup. A ten-cup white maximum does not turn those smaller menu limits into ten-cup limits.
Compare the non-IH ST models with the IH LHTR models
The ST models are electric pressure cookers, not induction-heating models. A useful Cuckoo comparison is the CRP-LHTR0609F or CRP-LHTR1009F, which adds induction heating and has its own manual-specific rice ranges. The six-cup LHTR has a six-cup ordinary white ceiling but smaller multigrain, GABA and non-pressure ceilings; the ten-cup LHTR supports a different mix of capacities. Do not carry ST numbers, menus or dimensions across to LHTR just because the names both contain “Twin Pressure.”
Pot surface can be a separate deciding constraint. The ST pages describe a nonstick-coated inner pot. If an uncoated steel cooking surface is essential, compare the Cuckoo CRP-LHTAR0609F, whose U.S. product configuration is specifically supplied with a steel pot. That model’s capacity and compatible replacement pots are not evidence about either ST cooker. In every family, distinguish a stainless-steel exterior or pot exterior from the actual food-contact cooking surface.
Schedule only the menu that the manual permits
The ST manuals give a preset range of one hour to twelve hours and fifty minutes, in ten-minute increments. Both say the three-hour GABA setting cannot be scheduled; the zero-hour GABA selection can be used for preset cooking. If the task requires germination and a finish time together, neither ST model meets both conditions in the same operating plan. Selecting “GABA” and “timer” separately is not enough; verify support for the exact GABA method.
For either ST model, select the pressure position before the menu. Open Cooking waits for the manufacturer’s add-ingredients prompt, and the lid must be closed within three minutes; heat pauses while it is open. This is not permission to interrupt a pressure cycle. The ST1009F porridge range belongs to the non-pressure menu and has its own thick or thin capacity scale.
Account for cleaning and equipment
Both manuals show a detachable inner lid and a steam-cleaning program, but daily cleaning still involves the pot, cover and condensation collector. The ST inner pots are nonstick-coated, so the manual cautions against rough or metallic scrubbers. The manual’s accessories panel says the steam plate can be purchased separately. The ST product pages list the manual, rice scoop and measuring cup; do not assume that a tray is in the box or that a steam menu cooks rice and food simultaneously.
Finally, compare the closed dimensions with the shelf and lid clearance you actually have. The ten-cup body is larger than the six-cup model. One ST0609F product-page dimension differs slightly from the manual’s rounded figure, so use the exact unit and verify clearance if a tight fit matters. The choice between these cookers is ultimately a choice between a smaller white-rice ceiling without porridge and a larger white ceiling with a separate, smaller porridge program—not simply six versus ten on a nameplate.
